Tips – Seven “Makes Your Computer Error
Free”
Get rid of unwanted start up programs. Click
Start > Run..., type "msconfig" in the box, and click OK. Select
the 'Start up' tab, and deselect any programs you don't want to
automatically run when you boot up. Don't get rid of anything you're
not sure about. This can have a substantial impact on boot time and
overall system performance.
This area is where the big savings in time can be
made. The average PC user probably has far too much stuff loading at
start up. Also, Windows starts up a lot of services by default that
many systems do not need.
Excessive program launching at Windows startup
has several bad side-effects, that may cause a computer error. For
example, it prolongs the startup process, predepletes System
Resources, and consumes RAM, CPU cycles, and other commodities; it
increases the change of having incompatible programs conflict with
each other; and it complicates troubleshooting since there are more
things to rule out.
